Frequently asked questions.

Have questions about what a boudoir session is like, what it entails, the process, or anything else? Check out the frequently asked questions below, and if we didn’t answer your question, email us!

What does the day look like?

The day of your session you’ll join Kimberly at Nine19 Studio located in the Glenwood South Neighborhood in Downtown Raleigh. It’s setup specifically to be a safe and comfortable space for your session. If you decide to book hair and makeup you’ll spend the first hour or so with your makeup artist. Next, you’ll spend about two hours with Kim, making magic!

How does hair and makeup work?

We book hair and makeup for you! The artist we work with are extremely talented. They color match for all complexions and lashes are always included. You’ll pay for hair and makeup the morning of your session, directly to your stylist!

What do I need to bring?

You’ll want to plan for 3-4 fits and we will put them in order of confident and comfortable to DAMN! You’ll want to bring any accessories that you think you might want to include in your session! Some ladies go over the top and some keep it super simple. Our advice is to go with your personality!

What about my cost?

Boudoir Photography is an amazing affordable luxury to experience. You want to make sure you will feel safe with whoever you decide to work with. You also want to know that the person you’ve hired is properly handling your portraits. Most importantly, you want to come out of your session feeling great about yourself and your body. If you’re looking for a wonderful time, celebrating you with a dope ass photographer, inquire! I’d love to give you details about the day of, cost, payment plans including Afterpay and anything else you may have questions about!

Where do I find lingerie?

I’ll email you my absolute favorite lingerie companies! I’ve figured out options on every budget and for every body! Also check out my boutique, La Luxure Lingerie!

How do I choose my lingerie?

Lingerie should be geared towards what makes YOU feel sexy, not what society says is sexy! You want to pick something that highlights your favorite bits and flatters your not so favorite bits! And have fun with color or don’t! It’s all about you and your personality!

What if I’m not really into lingerie? Can I still do boudoir?

Hell yes! The great thing about boudoir photography is that it’s all about YOU and making you feel amazing! We’ve had women wear their favorite band tee, their partner’s sports jersey, cozy sweaters, fuzzy socks, chucks, and more! You can wear whatever makes you feel confident.

Can others come to my session?

Absolutely! Feminine energy is preferred and definitely someone who is going to be in the background and your biggest champion! Please no children.

Can my partner book the session with me?

Yes! We offer Couples Boudoir Sessions with a slightly different Booking Fee! Couples Boudoir can be such an intimate and incredible experience for you and your partner.

I’m so excited about our session but I just realized I booked when I’m on my cycle!

That’s okay! If you’re used to using tampons/menstrual cups, just plug’er up and we’ll make it happen! If your cycle is heavier or you use products that are harder to hide, we can pick an easier date, just let me know as soon as possible.

I’ve had kids…

Damn right you have! And you look amazing! We love ALL bodies here, regardless of what they’ve accomplished, survived, or how they naturally arrived! All shapes, sizes, shades, and ages are welcome!

I’m booking my session for a special occasion. What’s the best timeline to book?

If your session is a gift for a wedding, birthday, or anniversary, we recommend booking 2-3 months in advance, but if you are on a tighter timeline definitely still reach out! We always do our best to accommodate specific dates for receiving your digitals, prints, or album. We will always let you know at the time of booking if a turnaround time is just not possible.

How far out are you booked?

Typically we are booked out 2-3 months in advance for our Sunday sessions and 1-2 months in advance for our Tuesday or Friday sessions.

What’s the process after my session?

Well, first off, you’ll leave feeling like THAT BITCH!

Then the editing process typically takes about two weeks. You’ll receive your online gallery from Kimberly, with your custom mobile app sent out in a separate email. If you order an album, your album proof will be sent within the same week. Once you approve your album, the order is placed. Each album is handmade so the turnaround time is 3-4 weeks.

What If i don’t want my portraits shared?

We have a model release that every client must sign in order for us to share your portraits. If you do not sign the model release, we will never share your photos. If you WOULD like to sign the model release, we have three different options. 1. Full release of all images. 2. Partial release where you approve which photos we can share. 3. Release of cropped portraits and/or portraits that do not show your face.
